RENOLIT invests in new calender line at La Porte to increase film production

12 July 2017

La Porte, Indiana, USA – July 11, 2017 - American RENOLIT Corporation (ARC), a leading manufacturer of high-quality plastic films in the USA, is investing in a new calender line that will extend the capacity of its production plant in La Porte, Indiana.

After being granted approval by the Supervisory Board of RENOLIT, operational rollout of the ‘calender 35’ capacity extension project has now started. The initial steps in the engineering work will take place by the end of 2017, with major equipment components being shipped from suppliers during the first half of next year. The core equipment – the calender line – is planned to be delivered mid-2018. With everything going according to plan the new line will be completed in time to start first production trials by the end of 2018.
The investment in the La Porte factory – which supplies ARC’s North American customer base – continues ongoing commitment by ARC to the US market. ARC has invested over $100 million in refurbishing and extending the La Porte plant over the last 18 years.

Renaat Demeulemeester, President at American RENOLIT Corporation said: “This project strengthens our commitment within the La Porte community and to the North American calendered film business. The additional facilities will allow us to meet the growing needs of our existing customers, and to develop new markets and applications.”

New record for VinylPlus

7 May 2013

VinylPlus, the European PVC industry sustainable development programme, had a record 362,076 tonnes of PVC recycled last year, keeping it on track to meet the challenge of recycling 800,000 tonnes per year by 2020.

Altogether, Vinyl Plus had a record 362,076 tonnes of PVC recycled last year, keeping it on track to meet the challenge of recycling 800,000 tonnes per year by 2020.

On top of that, there is more positive news: Innovative technologies to recycle difficult-to-treat PVC waste are under currently evaluation and significant efforts were made to address the ‘legacy additives’ issue related to the presence of restricted chemicals in recycled PVC.

In 2012 VinylPlus registered a decrease of 76.37% in lead stabiliser consumption in the EU-27 compared to 2007 levels, well on track to complete the substitution by the end of 2015.

These and more results of 2012 were presented at the Vinyl Sustainability Forum 2013 last week in Istanbul. You can find more information in the Official Press Release, in the Progress Report of VinylPlus or in the Executive Summary.

RENOLIT GORCELL Wins “Material of the Month Award”

5 February 2013

Worms, 05. February 2013 – Lightweight, resistant, easy to process, cost competitive and recyclable: It is not for nothing that RENOLIT GORCELL is being used in an increasing number of sectors, be it as interior trimming, wall cladding, furniture or flooring. The numerous positive characteristics of RENOLIT GORCELL have now been discovered by Material ConneXion Cologne. The Cologne-based material reference library has presented the composite from RENOLIT with the first “Material of the Month Award 2013”.

Karsten Bleymehl, Director Library & Materials Research at Material ConneXion Cologne, was impressed by RENOLIT GORCELL: “The novel technology enables the customer-specific, energy and resource-efficient manufacture of lightweight honeycomb cores and sheet stocks which can be fully recycled (mono-material). Subsequent thermoforming of the composite opens-up a multitude of new application opportunities”.

RENOLIT GORCELL is a combination of RENOLIT composites and an ultra-light honeycomb core. These honeycomb structures are very strong and also waterproof. Customers then use thermoforming processes to manufacture complex elements which are both lightweight and resistant. By combining it with non-wovens, anti-scratch films, various fibers or decorative RENOLIT films, RENOLIT GORCELL is highly versatile and offers completely new design opportunities for constructional elements. Furthermore, such components can be cost-effectively manufactured and later fully recycled.

Along with RENOLIT GORCELL, SILGLOW® from the Quarzwerke Group also received an award. This is a luminescent filler which, when added to plastics, causes them to day-glo and is thus particularly suited for use in road markings, road signs and warning signage. Material ConneXion extolled the high luminescent as well as the extreme mechanical and thermal stability of SILGLOW® .

With the “Material of the Month Award”, Material ConneXion Cologne distinguishes material and process innovations which have manufacturing potential as high-performance, resource-efficient and attractive products, packaging and architectures.

31 August 2011

Worms, 17 August 2011 – RENOLIT SE, Worms received two prizes at this year's red dot award. In the "Event Design" category, the concept and design of the trade fair stand which the RENOLIT DESIGN division used to present itself at this year's Euroshop received an award. In the "Advertising" category, the coveted award went to the brochure which the company used to communicate this appearance at the trade fair.

RENOLIT drew up the conceptual ideas behind the brochure and the stand design together with the Stuttgart-based design studio Projekttriangle. In collaboration with the VON M firm of architects, the staff led by Professor Jürgen Späth devised typographical threedimensional landscapes for the visual design and a concept for spatial communica-tion.

"This was our first time there – both at Euroshop and at the red dot award," says Uwe Maszkiewicz, sales director and brand manager of RENOLIT DESIGN, with great delight at this spontaneous success. As a manufacturer of 2D and 3D thermal laminates, the company is a recognised specialist when it comes to threedimensional surface design. RENOLIT wants to make increased use of this know-how and its net-work with companies in the areas of thermoplastic films and threedimensional thermal forming in commercial property.
